The hatch handles are known to degrade over time and won't always stay latched. Even with the red lock button snapped into place. It becomes relatively easy to open the hatch from the topside with pliers. Replace the hatch handles when required to eliminate an easy opportunity for theft of your equipment inside the boat or even the entire boat.
Hatch leaks may require the replacement of the acrylic gasket. Inspect yours and replace if necessary.
